VISIT PHILADELPHIA is currently searching for a Senior Corporate Communications Manager to join the team.  

Position Summary
The Senior Corporate Communications Manager serves as a key member of the Communications team, working closely with the Vice President of Communications to execute Visit Philadelphia’s corporate communications strategy. This role leads the development of high-impact communications materials, including stakeholder communications, executive talking points, speeches, press releases, presentations and reports that support organizational priorities.

The ideal candidate is an excellent writer, editor and proofreader with strong news judgment and the ability to produce clear, thoughtful work under tight deadlines. This person is comfortable writing for executive leaders, including the president and CEO, and collaborates effectively with internal stakeholders to identify communications needs and develop solutions. They have a strong understanding of marketing and public relations, can analyze research and data and translate insights into compelling communications, and possess a working knowledge of the tourism and travel industry. They are skilled at communicating organizational initiatives, campaigns, research and results to media, stakeholders and other key audiences.

The Senior Corporate Communications Manager reports to the Vice President of Communications, serves as a member of the Communications Department and may supervise interns or junior staff, as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities
Content Strategy, Development & Editorial Management:
  • Write, edit, proofread corporate and stakeholder communications including monthly newsletters, Annual Report and other communications as identified by Visit Philadelphia leadership.
  • Own the development, production and execution of the organization's Annual Report and stakeholder newsletters.
  • Write and edit press releases and other content created by the media relations team.
  • Align internal and external communications materials with the organization's overall vision, mission and values.
  • Ensure that stories, experiences and perspectives of diverse communities are reflected in written communications materials.
  • Maintain department style guide.
  • Liaise with freelance writers, proofreaders and translators as needed/required.
  • Work nimbly and efficiently with the entire organization to create projects that require writing for key audiences like stakeholders, press, partners, elected officials, etc.
Executive Communications & Thought Leadership:
  • Contribute to and concept thought leadership pieces for the CEO and other leaders within the company.
  • Draft award entries on behalf of the organization or executive leadership, as needed.
  • May assist in preparing executives and other stakeholders for media interviews by drafting talking points and briefing documents.
  • Create and manage content for Visit Philadelphia's corporate and executive LinkedIn pages.
Communications Planning & Operational Excellence:
  • Occasionally, participate in organizational and department brainstorming, planning, management and execution of Communications projects and campaigns.
  • Create and manage communications toolkits, messaging resources and processes that enable staff and partners to effectively communicate Visit Philadelphia's priorities, initiatives and key messages.
Crisis Communications & Reputation Management:
  • Assist the VP of Communications in developing and updating the organization's crisis communications plan.
  • Support real-time communications needs during potential issues or reputation-related events as needed.

Qualifications
Education Requirements:
  • BA or BS degree in a relevant field or commensurate experience.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in corporate communications, journalism or a similar writing-intensive role
Required Skills:
Specialized Experience, Skills and Abilities:
  • Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience in the travel and tourism industry highly preferred
  • Talented writer and storyteller with a journalistic mindset
  • Proven ability to craft messaging for executive leaders
  • Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with crisis communications and newsroom environments
Key Technical Skills or Applications:
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Google’s G Suite (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Gmail).
Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $90,000 - $95,000
